Oregon Landscapes, Washington Landscapes

"Yaquina Bay" 22 x 30 inches, prints only, any size. This was painted on the shoreline overlooking the bay with the Newport Bridge in the background. Yaquina Bay is a busy port with lots of fresh seafood restaurants nearby. Our favorite is Local Ocean right across the street from our painting location. They were kind enough to let us use their facilities. Of course, we had dinner there at the end of the day. Sold. Prints only.

"View from Laurel Ridge" 22 x 30 inches, prints only, any size. Laurel Ridge is a winery close to Hwy 240 out of Newberg, Oregon near Carlton. They let us paint here on a rainy day because they have wonderful covered porch. These people are gracious hosts and their wine is good, too. Sold. Prints only.

"Smith Rock" is a dramatic area of Central Oregon near Bend and Redmond. This is a hugely popular climbing location. We have hiked over the top and down the other side. The trail on the backside winds along the Crooked River. You can see the trail in the painting. Mt. Jefferson can be seen in the background. Sold. Prints only.

"Old Road to Warm Springs" 22"x30" was painted in the afternoon on a fall day that started out quite cold. We had our hot tea with us, though. We got up at 4am to drive to this location in Central Oregon from Portland. Painted all day here. This view looks east. The scenery is so dramatic with layers of dark rock on the tops of the hills. The mesas stretch into the distance. Sold. Prints only.

"Mt. Jefferson from Warm Springs" 22 x 30 is a beautiful location with the mesas leading into the foothills surrounding the Mt. Jefferson wilderness area in central Oregon. This view looks east and was painted in the morning light. Big chunks of black volcanic rock covered the ground along with junipers and rabbit brush. Sold. Prints only.

"Mt. Jefferson from Mile Post 109" is the only way to describe this painting spot in Central Oregon. We looked across the desert. All you could hear was the wind in the junipers and someone siting in a rifle way in the distant hills. A cinder cone in the distance completed this volcanic desert scene near Hwy 97. Sold. "Fred Luscher Barn" 22 x 30 inches was featured in a recent Portland Tribune article. The barn was being blown apart by the fierce winds of the Gorge. Fortunately, we painted it before any damage had been done. This barn along with it's out buildings backed by the steep timbered cliffs of the Columbia Gorge makes a statement about the lives of the rugged pioneers who settled the area. Sold. Prints only.

"Deschutes River from Warm Springs" 22 x 30 inches. Once again we arose at 4am and headed over the mountain and down into the very bottom of the Warm Springs area. Suddenly, there was a whoop from the other side as an angler hooked a big Steelhead! Fishing Oregon in this location is sure to net one! Huge outcroppings of black basalt typical of Central Oregon emerge in the area. One of these geological features can be seen behind the Juniper Tree on the left. Sold. Prints only.

"Deer Trail to Broken Top" 22 x 30 inches. The waters of a small pond mean survival in a dry area for many animals. The red barked Ponderosas provide a spark of color against the green of the needles. South Sister, Broken Top, and Middle Sister were crystal clear in the high desert sun. I slight wind sighed throughout the day as we painted. Prints only.

"Crooked River Gorge" 22 x 30 inches. The shear sides of the gorge are sliced through the desert landscape. Below flows the green of the river. Junipers dot the far plain. Volcanos Faith, Hope, and Charity, the Three Sisters of Central Oregon can be seen in the background. One side of the Gorge is a straight drop off, while the other is large crumbled boulders forming more of a slope. If you've been to Ogden Wayside you've seen this view! Prints only.

"Columbia River Gorge from Viento State Park, Oregon" 22 x 30 inches. Viento is a state park. Since the train blasts throught there at all times of the day and night, it's not one of the more popular places to camp. It is a perfect painting spot with a flat beach right on the the river. This view looks west. Sold. Prints only.

"Cape Meares" 22 x 30 inches. The coast winds were not blowing the day that we were painting here. Thanks to an unusually calm wind day we were able to paint right out on the rounded rocks that line the beach. Bay Ocean City us to be nearby, but it washed into the ocean when the north jetty of Tillamook Bay was put in. The addition of the south jetty caused the sand to fill back in stabilizing the areas beautiful beach. Sold. Prints only.

Bingen, Washington Hills. 22" x 30". The painting was painted from the Windsurfing site on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. We painted on a day without wind.

"Clarno Unit, John Day National Fossil Beds. We were National Park artists one summer and painted in all of the units in the park: Painted Hills, Clarno, and Sheep Rock. While painting the Clarno Unit, a coyote was howling in the distance. Each hour the coyote was getting closer and closer! We had to leave and go back to the house the Park Service rented for us since the temperature rose to 106 degrees by 12:30pm.!

"Painted Hills" 15" x 22" $400. The colors constantly move down the hill. No one is quit sure what mechanism causes this, but each time you visit, the hills are different.

"Carrol Rim", John Day National Fossil Beds, Oregon. This formation is part of the Painted Hills Unit. We were painting in a green, shaded park near here, but had to leave by 12:30pm and go back to air conditioned splendor in the town of Spray. It was a tiny house, but the coolness was so welcome.

"Willamette Valley Wine Country" 30"x22", $800 original. This painting was painted from Red Ridge Farm. There is the owner's winery right next door. One of the most beautiful views of this famous agricultural valley.

Lavendar Fields are in Hood River, Oregon with Mt. Hood in the background. This location is spectacular as you look up at the north glaciers on the mountain. 22" x 30", $800.

"Drift Fishing" was painted on site and represents one of Oregon's favorite past times, fishing! 30"x 22", $800
Tree Paintings

"Beaver Creek Fir" This huge Douglas Fir was painted on location at a friend's house and later sold to an art rep for an office space. Size 22"x30" Sold. No prints.
Pacific Northwest Wineries

"Panorama from Penner Ash Winery" was painted on a day when the yellow jackets were drunk on grapes that had dropped to the ground and had fermented. The painting was painted with paint flying through the air as yellow jackets were being swatted! 30"x22". Sold. No prints.
Flowers

"Fall Bowl" has to do with my love for flowers. Our yard has one of each, it seems. This fall bowl was painted on location at a nursery in town. Original 30"x22" is available, as well as prints.

"Sailing with Abandon" is about the love of sailing. We have a small Laser and love taking it on vacation. It is a quick, fast boat, and you do get wet! 22"x30" Original available and prints.
Apple Paintings
Buildings/Cities

"Chehalem Valley Mills" is an interesting conglomeration of buildings in the heart of downtown Newberg that had to be painted before it was torn down. The used saddles and tack store is now gone. The mill is left standing for the moment. Purchased by the Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg, OR 22" x 30" Prints available.

"Front Street, Portland, Oregon" Front Street is now called Naito Parkway, but when this painting was painted, the name was Front St. The Willamette River runs parallel to Front and is just a few feet away. This is a beautiful area of downtown Portland with public areas all along the Front called "Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Governor McCall was responsible for keeping Oregon beaches public which we all deeply appreciate. Original is sold. Prints only.

"Portland, Oregon from Oaks Park Amusement Center" is a view across the Willamette River and into the city. Koin Tower and the Standard Insurance buildings dominate the skyline. Laser sailboats ply the Willamette River. This painting was selected for the Watercolor Society of Oregon's Fall Show 2007 in Prineville, Oregon. 15"x22" Original available and prints.
Farms

This is another painting of Koch Farm in Tualatin, OR done on another beautiful day. Only this time we are deeper into the fields. We were immersed in wonderful smells of the fields toward the end of summer. "Tomato Patch", 22"x30". Original sold. Prints.

"Grandpa Don's Barn" is home to his pumpkin patch in the fall and the flower u pick patch all summer. Located on Borland Rd. in West Linn, Oregon. 30" x 22" Original available and prints.

"Red Ridge Farms" is a bed and breakfast where you bring your own breakfast and cook it yourself. The setting is tranquil and beautiful with lavender classes and a nursery attached. 30"x22" Original is sold. Prints available.
Mt. Hood Paintings

"Pacific Crest Trail Over Mt. Hood" Another perfect day of painting. Only one year did we need to go inside Timberline Lodge to draw to stay out of the mist. The sun and wind cooperated with us and our group got some very good paintings. 22" x 30" Original is sold. Prints only
